October Breakfast

L'viv

By God's grace, thanks to both His and your support, since October 2019, there have been meetings with students at four universities in L’viv: Ivan Franko National University, L’viv Polytechnic University, Medical University, and the Academy of Music. A special blessing and challenge for our team is the beginning of ministry to students at the Medical University and the Academy of Music, the beginning of new student chapters at these universities.  We continue to hold weekly discussion club meetings on campus at the other two universities.

At these meetings, we met new students, played various board games, discussed topics about relationships and decision making, watched and discussed movies. Discussion clubs serve as a platform where we can build strong friendships and develop students intellectually. After discussion clubs, we invite students to Bible study groups. This year we have already started to study the Bible with four new students from these universities. We also plan to mentor them via individual meetings for our mutual spiritual development. We hope to have a lot of fruit this year.

Odesa and Mykolayiv

The first months of the university year brought a lot of joy and at the same time a lot of anxiety. In September, there was the opening of the student club "Influence", and in October we had the first meeting on the subject of creativity. The whole event was organized by active Christian students and aimed at building friendship relationships with new people.

The club served as a great trampoline for our main October event - The BIBLE & LIFE Conference. Eleven students, one volunteer from Mykolaiv, and a team of CCX Odesa went to Bilhorod - Dnistrovsk.

We spent a wonderful time in a warm and family atmosphere, where we had the opportunity to sincerely communicate with each student. Our busy program consisted of various workshops, inductive Bible study and further discussions. A highlight of the program was a short hike to the Ackerman fortress, where we had an informative excursion, and developed our friendship among CCX students. All that inspired students to do heroic deeds at their universities and spread the Good News among their peers.

Opening of the Russian-speaking club is scheduled for early November. Please pray that fifteen potential visitors would open their hearts to the Lord, and that He would reveal Himself to them through us.

Prayer Breakfast in Kyiv

On November 7, 2019, at the initiative of the Kyiv team of CCX Ukraine, a second prayer breakfast was held for Christian leaders and partners of CCX.

The Prayer Breakfast pursued two goals:

  • to be a platform for partnership and development of relationships between different leaders
  • spiritual unity and encouragement

This time we invited a special guest - Daryl McCarthy, Vice President of Academic Programs and Strategy of the Forum of Christian Leaders. He was the main speaker on the topic “How to Serve Others Through Weaknesses”.

We chose that topic because in the context of our Ukrainian culture, ministers do not talk about their weaknesses or leadership failures. As a result, many keep their worries and problems to themselves, get frustrated, and consequently burn out emotionally. Daryl dispelled a stereotype that for quality service one must be self-confident and authoritarian, like most leaders in the world today. He encouraged the participants with Bible quotes, urged them to be confident in God, accept their weaknesses, and move forward.

We invited around twenty Christian leaders to the PRAYER BREAKFAST. Their feedback led us to believe that it was not in vain, and the Lord spoke to people.
